Methods of Teaching US History for Novice AP  Teachers

Alyce Loesch  has  taught for over twenty years, the last twelve in AP United States history. She has been a reader at Texas for six years. She is a veteran teacher, presenting workshops for the College Board for the last three years. She has an MA in American history and currently in the process of finishing an advanced degree in Curriculum and Instruction. 



This course provides students an overview of the basic structure and content necessary for an Advanced Placement U.S. history course. Samples of multiple choice and essay questions will be provided. Model lessons, standards for grading student responses, DBQ teaching strategies, connections to the internet, the structure of the AP exam and the development of an AP U.S. history syllabus will all be investigated during the course.
