Methods of Teaching AP Chemistry (Kinetics and  Equilibrium)

This one week summer institute will provide an opportunity for high school AP Chemistry teachers to observe significant teaching demonstrations, perform experimental procedures using computer interfaced equipment, and to review with presenters a variety of topics covered in AP Chemistry. 

The institute will provide information and materials to participating teachers that will:

bullet

enhance your classroom presentations in many areas of the AP Chemistry program.

bullet

encourage teachers to use methods in their classrooms that involve new demonstration ideas

bullet

expand the scope of your laboratory activities using computer interfaced equipment.

bullet

provide a forum for discussion and sharing of their materials and ideas.

bullet

refine your skills in examination preparation.

Topics to be covered will include: 

bullet

Equilibrium Chemistry (including buffers and hydrolysis) 

bullet

Solubility (Kp, Kc, Ksp) 

bullet

Kinetics (rate law expressions) 

(each area will include experimental work to support the concepts)

Both experienced and novice AP Chemistry teachers can benefit from this program.

Date: July 5th-July 8th

Time : 8:30 AM-4:00 PM 

Cost:  $595.00 ( includes Breakfast and Lunch)

Place: Science Wing, Ossining High School, Ossining, New York

Credit : A 30-hour certificate toward in-service credit will be issued for use according  to your school district’s policy.

 

Manhattanville College - Three Graduate Science Education Credits available upon  completion of Project  at an additional cost of $ 870.00.

SUNY Purchase [Chemistry BCH.1020 ]-Two Undergraduate Chemistry Credits available upon completion of project at an additional cost of $430.00 .
